News from UCOL
UCOL are pulling out all the stops and are reinvigorating their offerings in Wanganui. They are working flat out on writing the new Arts Degree and hope to have it all finalised for 2015. There is quite a process to go through to get it approved, but they are working closely with the Education Ministry and everyone knows how vital this is for Wangnaui so there is a lot of interest in getting the approval through, from the Ministry, UCOL, WDC and Chester Borrows. Assuming approval is obtained for rollout in 2015, with such a late rollout, they will still run the degree even with low enrolments.
I've taken a part-time, short-term contract as Director Community Relations and I'm out and about looking for even more opportunities and feeding-back info to UCOL on community concerns and needs. It is great to see such commitment by UCOL and as information on courses start to roll out, I'll keep you informed. Feel free to contact me anytime if you want to chat.
WELCOME AND GOODBYE:
Farewell to Elizabeth Van Zanten who is jetting off overseas for a few years teaching alongside her husband David.

Note that we will talk about the latest opportunities and happenings in Wanganui for artists, so its not all casual chat.

- Congratulations to Margaret Silverwood, Andrea du Chatenier, Glen Hutchins and Cathy Tuato'o Ross for making the short-list of 81 for the $20,000 Parkin Prize, out of 454 entries received. Wanganui is the only region outside of the main centres of Auckland, Wellngton and Christchurch that has artists shortlisted. Good luck.
